The Director General of Industry, Energy and Mines, José Francisco Puche, and the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, today opened the public and free loan of 50 bicycles in the city, an initiative that promotes savings and energy efficiency and promotes healthy and sustainable mobility.

Bikes are distributed in three strategic points which are Cultural Center, Youth Space and Municipal Sports Complex.

Puerto Lumbreras is the tenth municipality that has a bicycle rental system, after Ceutí, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcazares, Alhama, San Javier, Totana, Mula, Cieza and White.
The University of Murcia has another, while Murcia and San Javier (zone La Manga) are about to operate them.
This initiative is part of the actions of the Comprehensive Energy Efficiency and Saving the Region of Murcia developed by the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research through Argema, in collaboration with municipalities and the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving Energy (IDEA), an agency under the Ministry of Industry.
