The 'Meet the Stars' promoted by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has received over five hundred visitors during the month of July.
The initiative is the contemplation of the stars and constellations through the Astronomical Observatory Cabezo la Jara.
Specifically, the Campaign 'Meet the Stars', offers guided tours, lectures and seminars outside and watching the different constellations through Telescope Observatory Cabezo de la Jara.
According to the Councillor for Tourism, Ginés David Piñero, "the program can bring the world of astronomy to the public and establishes itself as an alternative to the summer activities that will continue for all on Wednesdays and Saturdays in August and September from 2200 hours. "
New this year the council has included the campaign "Meet the Stars' in the new Programme of Development of Rural Tourism that takes place during the summer months, which also includes visits to the new Interpretation Centre and the new Nature Trail Astronomical.
The Astronomical Observatory Cabezo la Jara is situated 1246 meters above sea level and 7 km from Puerto Lumbreras core.
Their facilities include more than 80 square meters and include a dome, an observation room, reflector telescope Meade LX 200 12, a classroom of astronomy CCD cameras to photograph and video and computer control.
