The next weekend in Puerto Lumbreras can observe the dramatic drop in "Perseids" popularly known as "falling stars" (10/08/2010)

Through the Department of Tourism Puerto Lumbreras City Council has put in place during the summer months the Campaign 'Meet the Stars', held at the Astronomical Observatory of Cabezo de la Jara.

The Councillor of Tourism of the consistory lumbrerense, David Ginés García Piñero with Simon, a representative of the Astronomical Association of the Region of Murcia presented this morning at a press conference the activities that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras are scheduled in connection with the Perseids shower sometimes known as 'tears of San Lorenzo'.

The program includes a special event on Thursday 12 August because of the Perseids shower.

The day will feature a talk on astronomy in which explain the phenomenon of Rain of Stars, and their observation through the telescope.

In addition, the council has organized a special weekend on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 August with the 'Rain of Stars'.

"In these days we have organized activities to be observed in the dramatic drop in" Perseids "popularly known as" falling stars "or" tears of St. Lawrence, "said the mayor of Tourism.

Among the activities planned by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras for this weekend include, visits to the Centre of Interpretation of Nature Trails visits Thematic Dinner at the lodge Cabezo de la Jara, conference outside the to explain the constellations and perform various leisure activities such as legends or stories about the constellations, bed and breakfast.

The program "Meet the Stars" includes free guided tours every Wednesday and Saturday of August and September from 22.00.

The initiative has an outdoor lecture that explains the basics of astronomy can see the moon and various stars through the telescope of the Astronomical Observatory of Cabezo de la Jara.

The Astronomical Observatory Cabezo la Jara is situated 1246 meters above sea level and 7 km from the heart of Puerto Lumbreras.
