The archaeological site of Cueva del Rayo de Puerto Lumbreras has been declared a cultural interest Ranked (14/09/2010)

La Cueva del Rayo de Puerto Lumbreras has been declared of Cultural Interest by the General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia.

The archaeological site is a karst habitat shelter with an occupation in prehistoric times that extends between the Upper Paleolithic and Neolithic (9000-4000 BC).

The purpose of the listing of the Cueva del Rayo is to protect and preserve the archaeological heritage of the locality.

According to the Councillor for Tourism, Ginés David Piñero, "This is the second site listed as a cultural interest in the town during this month. These sites help convey the history of the town at different times."

La Cueva del Ray is located in the central area of the Sierra de Enmedio, the high side of a relief organization, which has steep slopes on their sides, defined by gullies.
