Public Works removes barriers in the old urban Puerto Lumbreras (26/09/2010)

The Director General of Planning and Housing said that the works will involve "the construction of new ramps and the elimination of roads to ensure safety and mobility of pedestrians"

The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Planning and Housing, supports the elimination of barriers in the urban environment of the main commercial street, located in the old town of Puerto Lumbreras.

This action requested by the local council falls within the program 'Removal of architectural barriers and planning', whereby the Department removed the buildings and public spaces any obstacle that limits its use by citizens.

The Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, said that the works will involve "the construction of new ramps and the elimination of roads to ensure safety and mobility of pedestrians walking on."

Conditioning, with an investment by the Ministry of € 75,000, takes place in an area of special interest, because there lies the Casa-Museo Ethnographic Traditions, the Municipal School of Dance and House- Museum of the Guilds.

In addition, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras is driving policy in this area of acquisition of properties to be allocated to public buildings.

The performances will include the provision of a series of ramps that will save the existing slopes in the upper area of the town, which houses the old town, and the adequacy of the existing ramps.

Also remove the stairs and installed non-slip flooring.

Antonio Navarro said that "for some time been carrying out actions aimed at revitalizing the neighborhood. These include the restoration of the House of Fairies and Cultural Center, or the Neighborhood Plan for the renovation of facades, both projects funded also by the Community. "
