The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras create a local Commission against gender violence (09/12/2010)

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras create a local Commission against gender violence with which they establish a protocol for coordination with the medical staff and law enforcement authorities of the locality.

The commission, which was created after being unanimously approved an agreement at the last City Council, aims to "identify needs and appropriate resources to respond optimally to those who suffer or have suffered some form of abuse," says Councillor Equal Opportunity, Lina Gázquez.

In this way, and together with the Center for Specialty Care of Victims of Domestic Violence, the town will offer "support services and advice which will involve local professionals to work together with professionals that has the CAVI working specifically in this area, "adds Gázquez.

Also, the Local Committee against gender violence will have the cooperation of local health personnel and security forces and civil guard, civil defense and local police to provide victims with comprehensive care and systematized.

In addition, through the European project Daphne Spire against gender violence, the staff of the new Specialty Care Center for Victims of Gender Violence, held working meetings with health professionals and law enforcement in order to create the protocol action in situations of violence, to study each case and provide the tools and support.
