The project pays special attention to improving accessibility for elderly and disabled, thus helping to improve their quality of life and autonomy
The Ministry of Public Works and Planning, through the Directorate General of Land and Housing and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, invested a total of 1,932,000 euros in the rehabilitation of 150 homes in the area of the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The area of operation, which is home to more than 1,700 locals, is an Area Comprehensive Rehabilitation (ARI) and comprises a total of 43 blocks, which will host the work of renewal of the urban image.
The project will focus on improving the accessibility.
The Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, said that "the purpose is to provide a higher quality of life for residents, especially in the case of elderly or disabled, which will have greater autonomy."
Also there will be a structural rehabilitation and facade, where necessary, as well as the adequacy of water facilities, sanitation, electricity, gas, heating, ventilation and natural lighting.
Also improve the elements conducive to reducing energy consumption and homes are properly insulated.
The director general said the regional government "working on the development and implementation of projects like this in different municipalities, which contributes to the cohesion of social fabric of cities."
This also leads, said Navarro, "in improving quality of life for residents, who may apply for the rehabilitation of their homes."
Under the agreement between the Community Rehabilitation and local and state authorities, also includes improving the city image through the replacement of sidewalks, paved with cobblestones and the replacement of street lighting and street furniture.
