The Full Council City Council approved the accession of the Mediterranean corridor FERRMED Manifesto (26/01/2011)

The Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, presented at the next Full Council a motion which the municipality will be part of the Manifesto lumbrererense Network Principal Trans-European Rail Freight (FERRMED).

With the creation of FERRMED corridor, the industrial hub Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras could become an intercontinental logistics platform of the first order.

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, presented at the next Full Council moved that the council accedes lumbrerense Manifesto Home Network Trans-European Railway Freight (FERRMED), with which the industrial hub Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras could become an intercontinental logistics platform of the first order between Europe and Africa.

Thus, Sanchez explained that "this motion support the construction of the great Mediterranean corridor, which was established as a priority project for the European Union."

In this sense, Sanchez also pointed out that socio-economic studies on the Mediterranean axis refer an extraordinary contribution to the regional economy than 22,600 million euros between 2016 and 2045 based on increasing the competitiveness of rail traffic within the overall land 'something to contribute significantly to future Logistics Activities Area Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras'.

Thus, the motion shall Sanchez in the next Full Council supports the creation of the Main Railway Goods of the European Union, which could put the region of Guadalentín in a prominent position for transit train between 3,600 and 5,000 tons useful "creating a dynamic and attractive to international investors, and strengthening the competitiveness of the regional economy."

Thus, "the industrial hub Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras will increase their chances of growth with the addition of logistics and industrial activities open to the Mediterranean corridor," he says Sanchez.
