The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is the new Municipal Council for Equal Opportunity (27/01/2011)

The Municipal Council for Equal Opportunities was established as a structure of participation and consultative with which it will monitor all activities related to women's equality in the locality.

The new Council consists of 16 women lumbrerenses representatives of groups, local associations, or other municipal councils, to "increase the implementation of affirmative action for all lumbrerense population profiles."

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has formed this afternoon the new Municipal Council for Equal Opportunity, "which is created with the objective of enhancing the monitoring and implementation of new policies of equality in the locality."

So, Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, has been responsible for presiding over the creation of this new Council, "with which we intend to renew the old Women's Sectoral Council created in 2005 to adapt their laws to the reality and current needs of women lumbrerenses. "

Thus, the new City Council Equal Opportunities Puerto Lumbreras will deal with dynamic equality policies and to address related analysis with the participation of women in social, cultural and municipal policy.

In addition, the new Municipal Council for Equal Opportunities will be responsible for reporting on local initiatives for women in Puerto Lumbreras, and make proposals for action in the area of women: reconciling work and family life, access to employment, access to business, cultural activities, integration in the management bodies, training, information and advice.

In this regard, Sanchez explained that the new Municipal Council "will provide the lumbrerenses women greater participation in municipal decisions, giving them the opportunity to make proposals to improve equality policies developed in our town."

Thus, the new Municipal Council is chaired by the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and includes women representatives of local associations like the Association of Amas de Casa Peñas Blancas, Foreign Women's Association 'New Hope Women's Association Progress of 'The Esparragal', or the Association of Friends Without Borders.
