Delivers 60 open licenses to farmers lumbrerenses when adapted to the new environmental adjustment (29/01/2011)

The council has approved more than 60 licenses to open in ruminant livestock farms following the implementation of regularization service that promotes sustainable development and environmental respect.

Puerto Lumbreras was a pioneer in establishing the advisory service for the adjustment of farms to adapt farming to environmental demands through Ecopuerto Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with the Autonomous Region, has approved 60 licenses to open a ruminant livestock farms have adapted to the new adjustment that helps the environment.

To this end, the council launched lumbrerense through Ecopuerto Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012 plans supplemented by advice to farmers to encourage training programs to adapt farming to environmental requirements.

Thus, Sanchez explained that "Puerto Lumbreras was the first municipality to provide advice and support services for the regularization of farms, in order to ensure respect for the environment. In addition, these initiatives are part of the Strategic Plan Ecopuerto, which has been recent national award as "Municipal Best Practices'."

For this, the Rural Development Department of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras made available to farmers a service to facilitate procedures for regulation of ruminants and swine farms.

"The initiative was launched in order to facilitate and expedite the adjustment process in which they are immersed ruminant farms since the entry into force of the Law 1 / 1995 of 8 March, Environmental Protection Murcia Region. "

Thus, the municipality signed a cooperation agreement with the cattle ranchers from pig and ruminant sector to establish the conditions for procurement by the City Council minutes of start-up and operation of livestock farms.

Through these agreements, most of the existing farms to the entry into force of Law 1 / 1995 of Environment Protection of the Region of Murcia, and Open License have so requested, while with the previous Ordinance Regulatory, many of these farms had not obtained.

Thus, "the council was a pioneer in the formalization of such agreements with livestock enterprises, which have favored the development of cattle in the locality, with the adaptation of farming to the demands of urban planning, environment and health," says Sanchez.

The initiative is part of Ecopuerto Strategic Plan 2008-2012 in which the municipality seeks to promote respect for the environment in all policy areas.

So, on Monday 31 January the Minister of Agriculture and Water and the Mayor of the town will be presenting the new licenses to open a farmers lumbrerenses.
