The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras goes a step further in the field of environmental care and sustainable development with the inclusion of new environmental standards to be incorporated into the specifications for contracting companies in the construction sector.
In this way, and through Ecopuerto Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012, the municipality required environmental criteria to all companies of the construction work on public works and infrastructure.
According to the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, "is a new measure that incorporates the Ecopuerto Strategic Plan, with respect to achieve optimal for the environment in all construction processes employed by the municipality."
The City Council will require environmental management measures in the statement of conditions for the successful tenderers for the works.
Additional criteria, the session will assess the environmental labeling construction materials and the proper management and separation of waste from the works for later transfer to treatment plants.
In addition, among other criteria highlights the environmental impact assessment generated by construction materials in their various phases, management in case of demolition, as well as resources provided by each company to reduce pollution and energy consumption during the period work.

Measure within the Ecopuerto Plan 2008-2012
Ecopuerto Strategic Plan 2008-2010 includes over 150 specific measures to reduce the effects of climate change, promote energy efficiency, and increase public awareness on environmental care.
The inclusion of additional environmental criteria to the specifications for the procurement of works of construction is part of this Plan, which was awarded at the national level during the last week in the National Convention of the PP, as one of the ' Municipal Best Practices', among the 200 municipalities that opted for the award.
