Opens its doors after its conversion into tourist and cultural space of Casa del Cura Puerto Lumbreras (16/07/2011)

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, Antonio Sevilla, and the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, last night inaugurated the new space tourist, historical and cultural terms, which features Puerto Lumbreras after rehabilitation and conversion of the Casa del Cura .

La Casa del Cura is a manor house built in the nineteenth century, which has more than 1,300 square meters and is part of the regional architectural heritage.

The building, located in an area of ​​recent expansion of the village to the hamlet of La Station-Esparragal consists of a typical rural farmhouse structure now becomes a cultural public space.

Its infrastructures have two floors and large balconies, and a room where they kept the ancient farming tools and people residing in charge of maintaining the land.

For rehabilitation have been developed out cleaning, landscaping, reconstruction and remodeling field.

Also, more than 7,000 square meters of land have been improved with new landscaped parkland and a public park that sits in a coffee bar.

In addition, housing has enabled showrooms and recovered the typical home stays to publicize the most deeply rooted traditions and customs of the municipality.

During the inauguration, attended by over 300 lumbrerenses also performed a sample of the typical dances of the area by the Chorus and Dance Group of Virgen del Rosario.

New space tourist and cultural

The priest's house was built in the nineteenth century by Juan Arcas and inhabited for years by Alberto Marzal.

Besides these works, also is completing the project 'Things and cases of Puerto' Ana Belen Lopez, who won the competition of ideas organized by the Authority and the Ministry.

In the competition involved 28 proposals from 136 entries, and Ana Belén López project will continue the comprehensive rehabilitation of public space through new museum spaces.
