Puerto Lumbreras renews the Sectoral Council on Aging (28/10/2011)

The new Municipal Council of Elders "is constituted as a structure of participation and consultative in nature which keeps track of all actions relating to older people in the locality."

The Council "will provide older people a greater say in local decisions, providing the ability to make proposals on improving policies that benefit our seniors."

Puerto Lumbreras City Council has renewed the new Municipal Council of Seniors, with the aim of "increasing the monitoring and implementation of new policies aimed at the over town."

So, the Councillor for Social Policy, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, has been responsible for chairing the meeting of the new Council, "which seeks to launch new projects and initiatives adapted to the reality and the current needs of the elders of the town ".

Thus, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras Senior deals with dynamic policy analysis and to address related to the participation of older people in social, cultural and political criteria.

Furthermore, the Council is responsible for reporting on local initiatives and makes proposals for action in the field of older people.

In this sense, the Councillor for Social Policy, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that the new council "will provide older people greater participation in municipal decision-making, giving them the opportunity to make proposals for optimizing policies that benefit our older ".

Thus, the new council are women and men representatives of various groups, associations, neighborhoods and districts.

Thus, it is composed of representatives of all pensioner households in the locality, as Jose Antonio Carrillo, the Centre for the Elderly 'Vicente Ruiz Llamas, Christopher Moreno or pensioner's home-Esparragal Station.

In addition the council is composed of Encarna Ruiz, representative of the largest in the hamlet of Gonar, and Antonio Sanchez, president of Home of the Pensioner of Almeria Avenue.

The Council also includes other elders from various backgrounds of the population as Angustias Martinez, Concepcion Garcia, Maria Teruel, or Alfredo Da Riva.
