The House of Puerto Lumbreras Cure have a new 'Ethnographic Center' on local traditions and history (18/01/2012)

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras starts this week for the construction works of a new 'Ethnographic Centre' on the traditions and local history to be built in the new cultural and tourism created through the rehabilitation of the Casa del Cura.

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, explained that "the construction of the new Center for Ethnography in the priest's house and continue to expand this content providing new tourist space we created with the comprehensive rehabilitation of the iconic nineteenth-century housing ".

In this sense, the construction of ethnographic center with an investment of over € 150,000 will financed through European Leader Plus project, which promotes the Integral Development Association 'Campodos'.

Thus, the ethnographic center will be built in a building attached to the priest's house, where formerly they kept the farm implements.

Thus, the new facility will have 115 square meters incorporating an Ethnographic Hall with permanent exhibits on local history and traditions, and audiovisual and multimedia area which will display in the documentary and multimedia works on the history of local traditions.

The Centre also includes a Training Room where it is planned to develop educational and cultural workshops, and a multipurpose room for the development of exhibitions.

Alberto Marzal, the estate of the priest's house offers a two-story house and large balconies, and a room where they kept the ancient farming tools and people residing in charge of maintaining the land.
