The City of Puerto Lumbreras approved in the last Full Council a motion proposing the creation of an instrument of management of localized community sites in Cabezo de la Jara, Rambla Sierra Nogalte and Amid.

The Mayor of the town, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, explained that "what we want with the creation of a Management Plan for Sites of Community Interest (SCI) is to ensure the favorable conservation status and adequacy of the flora, fauna and natural areas that make these places listed environmental interest. "

Thus, to prepare the Management Plan Sites of Community Interest consistory sought collaboration with the Autonomous Community, in order to create a "new management tool specifically for Sites of Community Interest."

In this regard, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has Sites of Community Interest in the 'Sierra of the way "with an area of ​​over 2,200 hectares, and the' Cabezo de la Jara and Rambla de Nogalte 'with an area of ​​over the 1,130 hectares. Thus, the session proposes a management plan that includes measures and actions to "ensure the maintenance or restoration at a favorable conservation status of natural habitats."

To do this, the Management Plan will include an initial analysis of the ecological status of Sites of Community Interest, and then identify those most important values ​​that require conservation and management measures.

Thus, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and the Autonomous Community of Murcia will work together to design the management plan to ensure the preservation and maintenance of sites of Community interest.

Finally, Sanchez, explained that "the implementation of the Management Plan will offer numerous advantages such as obtaining legal certainty and maintaining a favorable conservation status of natural areas."
