The municipalities of Puerto Lumbreras and Huercal Overa boost joint projects to promote conservation of the natural landscape of Cabezo la Jara and increase and improve public services that are provided in the hamlet of Gonar.
This morning, the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and the Mayor of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernández, joint projects are planned to "promote the conservation of the natural landscape of Cabezo de la Jara, which borders both municipalities."
Thus, the Cabezo de la Jara was established as the highest mountain in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, with an altitude of 1,242 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest peaks throughout the Region Murcia.
In addition, the natural setting of Cabezo la Jara is bordering Huercal Overa, so that "both municipalities share in this environment landscape areas considered a Site of Community."
In this sense, both mayors have agreed to plan joint projects to promote actions that favor the development, enhancement and environmental protection of the natural landscape.
Among these actions, plans include cleaning, maintenance or reforestation in specific areas through a group of environmental volunteers.
Finally, at the meeting, Sanchez and Fernandez agreed upon new lines of collaboration to improve services and infrastructure provided in Gonar, a hamlet situated on the border and areas managed by both councils.
