The Governing Council has given green light for the procurement of the works of the main sewage pumping of the parishes of the Station and La Ermita de Puerto Lumbreras.
These actions will improve the treatment of wastewater from both locations, with their driving to Puerto Lumbreras treatment plant and disposal of the old facilities of the Wastewater Treatment plant (WWTP) in the first of the districts.
The project also includes building a gravity collector 943 meters in length.
The total budget is 1.9 million, to be funded in two annual fee by 80 percent, the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.
This work is included in the General Plan of cleansing and purifying of the Region of Murcia, which began in 2001 and has involved the planning and coordinating the activities of sanitation and treatment throughout the entire regional territory, with infrastructure construction in the 45 municipalities in the region.
The plan includes construction of 48 large treatment plants and fifty small treatment plants and a network of 350 kilometers of collectors who serve 99 percent of the urban population.
The Region of Murcia is the only Spanish community recovered nearly one hundred percent of its water and eliminates 98 percent of its pollution load.
