The City Council and ADEA-ASAJA promote new initiatives to boost the economic development of agriculture and livestock sector in the municipality (26/04/2012)

The Mayor of the town, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, explained that through this new partnership agreement will increase the specific measures to promote the development of agricultural enterprises in the municipality. "

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and the Regional Association of agricultural enterprises of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and the Agrarian Association of Young Farmers (ADEA-BDA) have signed a cooperation agreement to implement new information services and advice to companies in the farming sector, and "contribute to economic development of primary sector in the municipality."

In this sense, the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, explained that "in these difficult economic times is very important that administrations and associations may support the farming sector to contribute to its development and modernization."

Thus, Sanchez explained that in "Puerto Lumbreras the agriculture and livestock are established as one of the main drivers of the local economy, and through this new collaboration agreement we will implement further specific action to encourage the development of companies in this sector in our town ":

So, the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and General Secretary of ADEA-ASAJA, Alfonso Gálvez, formalized the agreement, through which "will be launched in the town a new information service, training, support and advice which will be accessible for farmers and ranchers who request it. To do this, will be established an office in municipality of the Station-Esparragal, where new services will be provided to farmers in the municipality.

Thus, by this agreement, local government will implement activities designed to encourage local agriculture, as one of the axes to stimulate the local economy.

To do this, ADEA-ASAJA, in collaboration with the council, promote advice on registration and updating of the register of farms and farm application priority.

Also, through the new service will inform farmers on improvement plans and the first installation companies and aid from the Common Agricultural Policy, or aid tax refund on agricultural diesel.

Also provide follow-up procedures with the administration, will manage the application for registration of agricultural machinery in Rome, will be updated cadastre, and provide technical advice to companies on request.

In conclusion, Sanchez stressed the importance of the collaboration agreement, as the agricultural and livestock sector in the workforce is 55.6%, becoming one of the main drivers of the local economy.

Agriculture has great potential in the sector of fruit and flowers, being very numerous greenhouses of carnations.

Also noteworthy is the growing of citrus and peach and numerous livestock, especially goats and pigs.
