Puerto Lumbreras celebrated Europe Day with the Opening Conference of diamine project involving several countries in the European Union (09/05/2012)

The European project "Active citizenship and intercultural dialogue with the immigrant population (diamine)" has as main objective the study of a common methodology and implementing actions to improve the integration of immigrant populations.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras has celebrated Europe Day with the Opening Conference of the European Project "Active citizenship and intercultural dialogue with the immigrant population (diamine)."

Thus, Puerto Lumbreras hosts events throughout the week and hours of work framed within the European project "Active citizenship and intercultural dialogue with the immigrant population (diamine)," involving more than 30 representatives of municipalities and associations of the European Union European project partners.

In this sense, the councilor of European, Salvadora Martínez, explained that "the project is working on concrete measures to strengthen socialization, and promote the integration of immigrants into community life. Thus, in the field of education is to raise the educational level of immigrant students, while employment levels is to increase the development of social skills to facilitate insertion into the working world. "

Thus, in the round table, moderated by the Councillor for European Projects, Salvadora Martínez, we have analyzed some of the projects, programs and initiatives of the European Union in terms of cultural integration and development.

At the same time, representatives of countries participating in the European project have been shared best practices from each of the participating municipalities and associations to improve aspects of the integration of immigrants.

In addition, we have established working groups to address issues such as education, socialization, training and employment, and thereby promote research, experimentation and the inclusion of measures agreed during the transnational meetings.

The project is coordinated by Unione Verdiane Terre (Italy), which also involved nine partners: Municipality Jyvaskyla (Finland), Kotka Municipality, Municipality Ravenna (Italy), Vanerborg Municipality (Sweden), Municipality Salo (Finland), City Real Municipality, Region of South Ostrobothnia (Finland), Xaghra Municipality (Malta) and Puerto Lumbreras.
