The City Council and the IMAS expand the number of places arranged for users with dependence on the Day Care Centre for the Elderly (09/06/2012)

Through the agreement entered into between the City and the Department of Health and Social Policy, will be allocated 344,000 euros to assist elderly dependents

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and Murcian Institute for Social Action (IMAS) have expanded the number of seats arranged for users with dependence on the Day Care Center for over town.

Specifically, and through a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Health and Social Policy and the session will be allocated over the next year a total of 344,000 euros for the care of 41 elderly dependents in the Day Centre

Thus, we have expanded the number of places concerted measures for dependent adults, from 35 to 41 seats.

Also, the center currently offers a total of 82 seats, of which 32 are aimed at older people with Alzheimer's or other dementias, and the rest for older people with varying degrees of dependency.

Thus, among the basic services offered by the Center include care assistance in daily living activities of elderly people, and accessible transportation service.

In addition, specialized services such as prevention, counseling and guidance for the promotion of autonomy, social care and rehabilitation care service and personal development, psychology, occupational therapy, functional rehabilitation and maintenance programs for mental ability and memory.

Day Care Center "Pastor Augustine Ortega Tárraga 'was constructed through an investment of more than 1,400,000 euros, and its facilities are located on two floors built on a plot of 800 square meters.

The ground floor is intended for elderly dependents, while the other targets people with Alzheimer's.

The center has qualified as nurses, psychologists, social workers or occupational therapists in order to meet the needs of dependents who stay during the day.

It also incorporates a function room, kitchen, an occupational therapy room and a room gerontogimnasia.
