The town has hosted the Interregional Project "Ecomujer", in which women have been trained lumbrerenses on the sustainable use of natural resources and respect the environment.

Two dozen women have known the process of collection of waste that have no place in special containers installed in public.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras has hosted all week Interregional Project on Environment "Ecomujer" in which women have been trained lumbrerenses on the sustainable use of natural resources and respect the environment.

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, through the council's Sustainable Development and the Department of Equality of Opportunity, assists in the conference "Ecomujer" framed within the Interregional Cooperation Project "Rural Women and Environment" organized by the Association for Development Rural Campoder.

Specifically, the project's general objective is to unite Interterritorial capabilities and efforts to advance equal opportunities, by encouraging the involvement of women in environmental maintenance and enhancement of their knowledge on sustainable use of natural resources.

Thus, more than twenty women have attended the workshops have been offered at the Center for Women in Puerto Lumbreras.

In this sense, the program of activities had conducting briefings on recycling and waste separation, energy saving and water saving.

In addition, there have been workshops in which participants could make homemade soap, accessories and cleaning products and cosmetics.

The closing of the workshop was conducted with a visit to Puerto Lumbreras Ecopark located in the industrial area of ​​the municipality.

Thus, women have been able to see the facilities for municipal waste collection that have no place in special containers installed in public.

Finally, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martínez, said that "it is important that citizens are aware of the importance of respecting the environment and undertake responsible actions to keep it."
