By Royal Decree-Law 20/2012 of 13 July, the Government has agreed to the abolition of the bonus in December 2012 for all public sector staff, including officials and staff working in the municipalities.
Socialist councilors, not being affected by this measure, coherence and solidarity with the employees of the City Council, and considering the economic situation we are going through, believe recommended that the Christmas bonus (or equivalent) of the elected officials of this City Hall is intended for non-profit entities engaged in the care of the most vulnerable, who suffer most from the consequences of the crisis, as the unemployed, elderly and dependent or any other group at risk of social exclusion.
The Socialist Party believes that the removal of the extra pay of public officials that the government has imposed Rajoy, "is an unfair and inefficient measure with which we disagree and ask the government to withdraw."
"It is unfair because it falls on public service workers, who have not been the cause of this crisis, which already many efforts have been asked before, and that for the most part have very little income. E ineffective because will have a strong negative impact on consumption, which is detrimental to SMEs, will reduce the collection of VAT, and contribute to job losses "
However, the PSOE elected officials take this step "out of solidarity and because they must set an example to public sector workers and society as a whole."
The Municipal Socialist Group supports this action and request that the money saved local authorities, is intended for the sole purpose of helping meet the social needs of those most in need: the unemployed, elderly and dependent.
