The House of Puerto Lumbreras Elves presents 46 original sculptures by Salvador Dali (26/07/2012)

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and the CEO of General Cultural Industries and the Arts, Juan Antonio Lorca, visited the sample consists of 46 bronze sculptures by Dali.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras hosts until next Monday 30 July an exhibition of 46 sculptures by Catalan artist Salvador Dali.

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, and the Director General of Cultural Industries, Juan Antonio Lorca, visited the sample is exposed at the Cultural Center of the Elven House of Puerto Lumbreras.

Thus, the exhibition shows some of the most famous icons of Dali and his soft watches or imaginary animals.

It is also remarkable the presence of religious works as a spectacular Piedad or San Sebastian, including mythological and bizarre sculptures.

Some of them belong to the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena (MURAM) and were provided for the occasion by Cultural Murcia.

Thus, the sample, which was organized jointly by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, offers 46 original Dali sculptures carved in bronze, and in various sizes.

Among the works on display also highlights entitled "Naked woman climbing the ladder" in 1973, with which Dalí wanted to pay homage to Marcel Duchamp that processing a great admiration.

Known mainly for his paintings and architecture, most critics agree that both a as in others, the sculpture was always present in Salvador Dalí.

For this reason, he began designing sculptures inspired by the surrealist motifs of his work although he was not involved in creating them.

It was not until Isidro Clot commissioned a series of pieces in the sixties and seventies when Dali himself worked directly with the sculpture, using the technique of bronze casting.

Among the more than forty works on display, highlights the work Gemini, which for its size set out in the courtyard of the cultural center of the Elven House.
