The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras promote a new comprehensive project to promote energy savings in public buildings 20 (16/09/2012)

The session aims to reduce energy consumption in public buildings by more than 20%

The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras will launch a new project that will run a comprehensive and integrated performance for the adjustment of energy facilities of 20 public buildings in the town.

So, Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, explained that "this is a new initiative that aim to reduce 20% of the overall energy consumption of public buildings twenty, and thus continue to work to reduce the energy consumption in our area as set purposes of the Covenant of Mayors of the European Union ".

To do so, shall be awarded by competitive dialogue procedure, a contract of collaboration between the public and the private sector with the company whose project meets the objectives set by the session to reduce by 20% the energy consumption in buildings public.

Thus, we develop an energy audit, and subsequently renewed energy installations in public buildings twenty education and training.

Furthermore, "is to reduce overall consumption of electricity, diesel and propane, and opt for the implementation of renewable energy by at least 20% compared to current energy consumption."

To do this, the energy services company to develop this new project will implement the replacement of energy facilities in public buildings, as well as develop the maintenance of facilities for perfect operation and optimal performance.

In this sense, public buildings that renew their facilities to improve energy efficiency are: Jordan Public School Assumption, Sacred Heart Public School, Public School Immaculate Conception, Juan Antonio Lopez Public School Alcaráz and four centers comprising Network Municipal Nursery.

On the other hand, is also planned to replace energy facilities in the two municipal libraries, Youth Space, Center for Entrepreneurship, Youth Hostel Cabezo la Jara, business incubator for women entrepreneurs, CLD, Cultural Center and School of Music Puerto Lumbreras.

Thus, this new initiative is part of the objectives laid down in the Covenant of Mayors, in which Puerto Lumbreras was the first Spanish town to join, and that involves the development and implementation of effective municipal energy policy .

Moreover, "it is a project framed within EcoPuerto Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012 which includes more than 150 specific measures to promote sustainable development of the municipality."
