The Women's Centre registered 3,000 users during the past year (11/01/2013)

"In 2012 has offered a varied program of activities and legal services, social, psychological and employment in order to ensure equal opportunities in all areas," explains Catherine Gázquez.

The Women's Center of Puerto Lumbreras, dependent on the Department of Equal Opportunities, has received 3,000 users, mostly women, during the past year 2012.

Specifically, the main services have been requested language training courses and activities related to leisure.

So, among them are the kinds of conversation between English and Spanish, the educational skills workshop for families with children and yoga classes.

In terms of activities and workshops, March was the month with the highest number of registered users, as it coincided with the launch of a special program on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day.

Thus, about 500 women participated in workshops this month as "Effective Communication for Success", "Cinema-therapy", "treatments essences" and "Medicinal Plants", among others.

Also, more than a hundred women have benefited, during 2012, the new service and Self Employment Counseling launched last year working to increase access of women in the municipality.

Thus, it managed about 150 jobs and there have been several career guidance workshops aimed at unemployed women.

Thus, nearly fifty people attended these workshops that addressed how to develop a resume properly and guidelines that must be followed for a successful job interview.

Furthermore, the Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI), installed at the Center for Women, has continued to respond to all clients who have needed their services during the past year.

In this sense, the technical staff of CAVI has made nearly 500 attentions to women individually, offering advisory services social, psychological and legal.

Moreover, from the Women's Centre have launched a dozen courses and workshops to raise awareness against gender violence, with which both have been promoted equal relationships.
