The City will work with schools in the municipality through the Sustainable Schools Network to promote educational projects that encourage young people to environmental conservation.
It will promote the implementation of various environmental programs such as recycling programs or environmental audits and visits to environmental facilities that exist in the region, such as classrooms or schools of interpretation of nature.
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras debated tomorrow in the Municipal Council moved that the municipality is integrated in the Sustainable Schools project of the Region of Murcia (ESenRED).
Thus, the aim is that schools implement the town's educational programs to favor environmental respect.
In this sense, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martinez, explained that "the educational community is one of the key social sectors to contribute to the improvement of environmental quality, both for his role in the formation of citizens by influence they have on the rest of society. "
Thus, "our intention is to integrate environmental issues and education to promote a commitment from the centers, generating between students habits and behaviors related to environmental compliance"
Thus the session will discuss the motion in the Municipal Council to work together with schools to integrate the municipality in the Sustainable Schools Network in the Region of Murcia.
To do this, the council inform the Associations of Parents and schools for the implementation of various environmental programs and auditing schemes or recycling programs.
As part of this project will be carried out, also, meetings with teachers and students to share experiences and best practices between schools and visits to environmental facilities that exist in the region, such as classrooms or nature interpretation centers.
In conclusion, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Salvadora Martinez, explained that the City Council promote environmental education campaigns aimed at all groups of the population.
"With the accession of the municipality to the Sustainable Schools Network in the Region will transfer sound environmental practices to schools in our town, and share projects with other municipalities centers of the Region of Murcia."
