The Special Commission on Disability Regional Assembly knows the new facilities and analyzes the services provided in Puerto Lumbreras to serve persons with disabilities (23/09/2013)

Accompanied by the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, members of the Special Committee on Disability of the Regional Assembly visited the Day Centre for the elderly, the Early Childhood Center and Day Centre for people with disabilities to begin to work soon.

Members of the Special Committee on Disability of the Regional Assembly of Murcia this morning visited the town of Puerto Lumbreras, where they met the facilities, services and public facilities that serve people with disabilities in the municipality.

Thus, President of the Special Commission of disability of the Regional Assembly of Murcia, Violante Thomas, along with the other regional deputies of the Commission have been received by the Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, M ª Ángeles Tunisia, who have analyzed the services provided in the municipality to provide a "comprehensive care of people with disabilities."

Thus, during the day have analyzed the actions, services and facilities with which the municipality directed to the attention of people with disabilities.

In this sense, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras explained that "in recent years have created new facilities and services in the municipality to ensure comprehensive care of people with disabilities."

SENIOR DAY CENTRE

The day began with a visit to Center Senior Day which provides assistance to 40 users.

The precinct will provide services relating to basic personal needs, as well as therapeutic and social health of those most affected by different degrees of dependency.

Note that the building is built next to the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and has 800 square meters on two floors.

Thus, the center consists of a hall, dining room, kitchen, occupational therapy room, gerontogimnasia room, treatment room and bathrooms elderly, among others.

Seniors also can receive service assistance and personal development, psychology, occupational therapy, functional rehabilitation, maintenance programs in mental ability and memory, and individual intervention based on each person.

All this by a team of professionals consisting of 15 people.

DAY CENTRE DISABILITY

On the other hand, during the day have visited the new Day Centre for people with Disabilities and Early Childhood Center.

The new equipment has an approximate area of ​​over 2,100 square meters and includes an Early Childhood Center with more than 80 beds and a day center for people with disabilities with more than 30 seats that will expand services for disabled people in the town, thanks to a collaboration agreement to formalize the City and the region.

The infrastructure has been built through an investment of over 1.4 million euros, and services are managed by the Fundación Diagram, which specializes in caring for people with disabilities.

The ground floor houses the Early Childhood Center consists of a psychomotor room and physiotherapy, speech therapy three classrooms.

On the other hand, the second floor is the center for people with disabilities, older than 16 years and includes two classrooms for training and programs of personal and social adjustment, employment workshops and several breakout rooms, office, gym and physiotherapy.
