Women participating in the V lumbrerenses People's March to mark the International Day Against Breast Cancer (20/10/2013)

Over 300 women participated in the rally organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras on the occasion of World Breast Cancer.

The participants have made a march from the Plaza of the Constitution to Our Lady of the Rosary Church where a Mass officiated.

The sources of the municipality have dyed her pink water to commemorate this day, as they have done numerous facades of buildings to hang the pink bow.

Over 400 people, mostly women, participated this morning in the V Marcha Popular de Puerto Lumbreras, developed on the occasion of International Breast Cancer held on October 19.

The initiative, jointly organized by the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and the Spanish Association Against Cancer of the town, has started with a rally in the Plaza of the Constitution, and a popular march that led to the assistants to the church Nuestra Sra . del Rosario, where a Mass was celebrated in honor of the people who have or have had the disease.

Among those attending the concentration, were representatives of the government team along with the mayor, Maria Angeles Tunisia, as well as members of various local associations.

In addition, the act also attended the president of the Spanish Association against Cancer of Puerto Lumbreras, Ana Maria Cerrillo, accompanied by members of the association lumbrerense.

Moreover, Tunisia, who has read at the rally the manifest and the European Code Against Breast Cancer, highlighted "the importance of raising public awareness, as each day are detected new cases of breast cancer in Spain".

After reading the manifesto, AECC members have distributed pink ribbons, which are established as the hallmark of this disease is considered one of the leading causes of death among women.

Therefore, according to Tunisia, "awareness campaigns are very important to call attention to a population that sees this disease distant to their lives."
