Inclusion criteria for energy savings in public procurement procedures, a comprehensive project for the overall reduction and energy efficiency of the indoor pool, renovation of all public lighting and new plans for sustainable mobility are some of the measures that incorporates the new " Environmental Strategic Plan to Combat Climate Change 2014- 2020 "and has already started the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
The Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras has launched more than 50 performances of the new 2014 Strategic Environmental Plan 2020, including more than 250 concrete measures to promote sustainable development and respect for the environment in the municipality measures.
This new plan was launched last June 2014 and since then have started more than 50 specific actions contemplated.
Thus, the new Environmental Strategic Plan 2014- 2020 includes several action lines "Water Management", "environmental improvement", "municipal waste management", "improved sound quality", "energy efficiency" and specific programs for industry, agriculture, education and mobility and transport, among others.
In this sense, the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, said that "the new Environmental Plan includes 250 new measures to reduce emissions and promote sustainable development in Puerto Lumbreras, as we have been doing for the last few years that we have significantly reduced CO2 emissions by up to 37%, which has allowed our town to become the first Spanish city to get the certificate of the European Energy Award ".
Thus, in the area of ​​'Improvement and optimization of integrated water management' include measures that are already being developed as installing faucet savings mechanisms in municipal facilities, extension of an automated control system leak, or reuse wastewater.
Meanwhile, the area of ​​'environmental improvement' incorporates an ecological patrol, a municipal revegetation plan, improving the system of waste collection, school environmental awareness, and increase underground containers in historic center of town, plans also initiated.
On the other hand, in terms of 'Improved sound quality' is being developed as a municipal noise ordinance in Puerto Lumbreras and incorporating preventive measures of environmental noise in urban planning.
Also, one of the areas that are particularly important within the Environmental Strategic Plan of Puerto Lumbreras 2014- 2020 is 'Efficiency Improvement and Energy Management' which includes measures that have already begun to develop and promote hiring companies energy services, including energy efficiency criteria in public procurement procedures, a comprehensive project for the overall reduction and energy efficiency of the indoor pool which began last week, and the promotion of solar thermal and photovoltaic energy in all municipal offices, among other measures.
