Lumbrerense of Alzheimer Association (VILLAGE) in collaboration with the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, has organized a program of activities to mark World Alzheimer's Day.

So, until next Sept. 21, the town will host various initiatives to promote awareness of this disease that is estimated to affect in Spain to 3.5 million people, including patients and family caregivers.

Thus, the activities will start on Friday morning October 19 with an information campaign in the Weekly Market district, where the association held its traditional VILLAGE cuestación and provide information about the disease to all citizens.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunis, explained that "this program of activities has been designed by the VILLAGE Association in collaboration with the city, and our intention is to increase public awareness about this disease, while promoting VILLAGE collaboration with the association to improve advice to families and services we make available to patients of Alzheimer's. "

Furthermore, within the programming highlights on 21 September a charity gala with performances by dance crews and the Cultural Center of Puerto Lumbreras.

VILLAGE Association

The Village Association is a non-profit organization established in November 2006 and formed by relatives of Alzheimer patients and professionals from various fields such as psychology, physiotherapy, social work and other disciplines involved in the care of Alzheimer's patient organization.

Its activity, funded by contributions and donations of more than 60 partners and by grants from public bodies, arises through private initiatives to the needs raised by the families of Alzheimer's patients.

Their facility, located in Doctor Jiménez Díaz have an area of ​​over 100 square meters distributed in a plant equipped with reception, waiting room, two offices, two meeting work and an examination room, adequate space for their activities .
