The National Ballet of Moldova in Puerto Lumbreras (05/07/2008)

Moldova's National Ballet performed last night before more than fifty lumbrerenses and neighbors in the neighboring towns of the township Municipal Park, whose entrance was free.

Specifically, the work represented 'Coppélia', situated within the tour organized by the Fundación Unicaja and runs throughout the Spanish territory with more than twenty performances.

Thus the National Ballet of Moldova performed the play 'Coppélia', sentimental and comic ballet with original choreography by Arthur Saint-Léon and Charles Nuittier and music by Léo Delibes.

The ballet was premiered on May 25, 1870 at the Paris Opera and is one of the most famous.

It was created in the heyday of the great Russian Imperial Ballet Classic, marking the end of the long French domination.

The action of this ballet elapses in a village where they live, among others, the mischievous Swanilda, her fiancé Franz and Coppelius toy.

The latter lives in a mysterious house where he keeps his creations, unknown to the rest: human-sized dolls.

NATIONAL BALLET OF MOLDOVA

The National Ballet was born in 1957 in Moldova's capital Chisinau in Moldova a group of dancers trained in St. Petersburg.

In its first ten years the company performed works known as "Giselle", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Coppelia."

In 1998 the choreographer Yuri Grigorovich directed the ballet in the representation of his version of "Nutcracker."

The National Ballet of Moldova has extensive experience in international tours throughout Europe, via Russia, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain and Germany, among others.
