The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez accompanied by the Director General of Heritage, William Insa, the Councillor for Culture, Isabel Garcia and the artist lumbrerense, Francisco Olivares, FOD, opened last night at the Fiftieth Anniversary Sculpture located next IES 'Rambla de Nogalte '.

To create such a structure the city of Puerto Lumbreras has enjoyed the cooperation of the Directorate General of Heritage, under the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration Regional Government.

The monument, sculpture, and its creator calls it, is made to scale and has 36 per 6.80 square meters in height.

The main idea is this sculpture is to pay tribute to the old houses of the fifties but with modern materials such as iron, concrete and timber in large dimensions.

"In sculpture you can see two open spaces that simulate two through windows where they can see the sky ', as related by its creator, FOD.

The sculpture is made with materials of construction, where a large iron plate concrete structure divided into two parts, as well as the Rambla de Nogalte divides the town into two halves.

Puerto Lumbreras has been and is a traditional border position, which until today has transcended foreign influences and the vicissitudes of time creating a unique urban and human landscape, which has been defined in some ways the future of artistic positions.

The silhouette of the hill and the Castle of Nogalte conditioned the growth of the city in more or less concentric semicircles whose core is buried in the remote origin of the settlement.

With these constants is necessary to rethink the future of Puerto lumbered as they are defined in the history of the city and its inhabitants.

The materials are what define the city, concrete to natural light and color, volumetric concept of a living space that is the habit of adapting lumbrerenses natural forms in housing, as Nogalte Caves.

The colors are the building which is defined as the weapon of renewal of the new urban entity.

'The location of the sculpture is a happy medium in which the urban and landscape demarcating their border, a zone of passage of many residents and visitors, in short, a growing area that today has this great sculpture tribute to the fifties years of building an independent municipality Puerto Lumbreras identity that will serve over the years', as noted the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
