The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez accompanied by the Bishop for the Diocese of Cartagena, Juan Antonio Reig Pla, relief sculptor, Juan Jose Quiros, the pastor of Nuestra Señora Virgen del Rosario, Andrés Marín and Antonio Martinez and the Queen of the Fiestas de Puerto Lumbreras 2008, Elena Granados, as well as numerous lumbrerenses and representatives of municipal government team attended the blessing of relief of the image of the Patron and Honorary Mayor, the Virgen del Rosario, who had last Tuesday on the occasion of the Feast of the Patron.
The image is installed in the plaza Francisco Rabal and held as a prior to the Canonical Coronation of the Virgin of the Rosary in front of hundreds of lumbrerenses.
The sculpture, according to its author, Juan José Quirós "sums up the feel of an entire people for its Virgin, an image that has been made following a classical style using a light but strong cast."
According to the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez "we wanted to honor the patron saint of Puerto Lumbreras mindful of their image, in view of an entire people and visitors in a public area of the municipality that is the devotion we feel for her."
