The President of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel accompanied by the mayor and deputy regional, Pedro Antonio Sanchez and the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana inaugurated this morning the conference "Rural Women: New Opportunities and Challenges" that has taken place in the hamlet lumbrerense Station-El Esparragal occasion of International Day of Rural Women.
The event was attended by over 600 women from different places in rural and regional geography, Archena, Totana, Abanilla, Molina de Segura, Fuente Alamo, Pozo Estrecho, La Palma, Los Alcazares, Torre Pacheco Puerto Lumbreras, among other locations who have taken stock of the situation of women in rural areas of the Region of Murcia.
At the time, which started at 10:00 hours attended also the director of the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, Teresa Moreno, Council Member of Equality, Children, Child Care and Volunteerism, Catalina Gázquez, president of Family Association and Women in Rural Region of Murcia (AFAMMER), Carmen English as well Rosa Alcubilla journalist who exposed the conference entitled "Small Achievements, Big Goals."
"Puerto Lumbreras currently has about 2,000 women living in districts like Gonar lumbrerenses, Puerto Adentro, The Station and The Esparragal, an important figure that has made Puerto Lumbreras an ideal place to celebrate this day at the regional level in order to claim fundamental role played by women in rural areas', as he said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
