The mayor and deputy regional, Pedro Antonio Sanchez and General Director of Citizen Services, Addictions and Consumption, Juan Manuel Ruiz, presented this morning in the city of Puerto Lumbreras the Prevention of Drug Dependence Conference aimed to councilors and involved in Drug Addiction Prevention in the Region of Murcia, in order to establish ties of relationship between professionals working in this field and facilitate the exchange of experiences between the municipalities of the Region, unifying the criteria of preventive interventions and identifying the difficulties more relevant in the development of programs.
The Conference, which will take place on 15 and December 16 at the Cultural Center of the municipality, will have a duration of fourteen hours and part of the Municipal Plan for the Prevention of Drug Addiction, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras framed in the Regional Plan Drugs 2007-2010 and the recent National Drug Strategy 2009-2019, which shows the scientific and technical progress in this area.
Through the Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia and the departments of Health and Social Policy of the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, organized this new constructive meeting for officials of local drug prevention and regional levels, since the structure starts for the first time in 1998.
Since then there have been 10 years, there have been five more days and has adopted a new Regional Plan on Drugs from 2007 to 2010, with new guidelines, new areas of intervention and new expectations.
"Puerto Lumbreras is once again the venue as a forum for discussion at regional level, devoted this time to treat a problem as the prevention of drug addiction to questioning the how, the why and wherefore of prevention in order to reach all areas of intervention ", as noted the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez," who also said that - "we hope that an encounter with a capacity as varied as this, is a meeting point for rapprochement, understanding and improving the needs and resources of local drug prevention. "
Among the objectives of the conference is to update the local drug prevention in the Region of Murcia, through the knowledge of new national and regional guidelines for intervention in local concerns and new trends in drug consumption, as well as facilitate internal coordination of the Plans and Programs Local Drug Addiction Prevention.
The methodology used is the presentation of lectures, workshops, panel discussions and reading of conclusions.
The presentations will take place during one hour, after which there will be a 30-minute conversation.
The working groups are stable over the following days and they will develop a working group session, whose content is related to the previous paper.
In each session, groups will be assigned a topic to develop and, after discussion, each group will draw the conclusions that will be read before the close of the conference.
Each group will have a coordinator, whose duties will explain the task, the group dynamic, promote the findings and announce them, as well as advisers to the contents of the Papers.

The opening ceremony is payable by the Director General of Citizen Services, Addictions and Consumption of the Ministry of Health, Juan Manuel Ruiz Ros, mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, an official of the Government Delegation for the National Plan Drugs of the Ministry of Health and members of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
