Puerto Lumbreras build a new Day Care Centre for disabled (13/03/2009)

The new public facility will feature Early Childhood Center for children and an occupational center for people over 16

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras built this year a new Day Care Centre for people with disabilities through an investment of 1,400,000 euros to promote the Care Unit in the municipality.

The Autonomous Community, through counseling Social Policy, Women and Immigration, and Ministry of Education and Science signed a cooperation agreement to enhance the care system in Puerto Lumbreras and other municipalities in the Region Murcia.

The new Day Care Centre for disabled people of Puerto Lumbreras will have an approximate area of over 1,350 square meters which includes one Early Childhood Center for children up to 6 years and Occupational Center aimed at disabled people over 16 years.

"This new public facilities will benefit and improve the quality of life for all dependent persons living in the city, since it is an appropriate remedy to ensure comprehensive care of persons with disabilities," said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

The building will be built this year and be located close to public school Juan Antonio López Alcaraz of the municipality, will have two floors and outdoor patio.

On the ground floor will house the Early Childhood Center consists of a psychomotor and physical therapy room, three classrooms, speech therapy and stimulation and a multifunctional room.

The second plant, which will house the Occupational Center, will include two classrooms for training programs and personal and social adjustment, an occupational workshop and several rest rooms, office and physiotherapy.

On the other hand, the center will also include common dining and a space for families where spaces will be located psychology and social work.

"People who are dependent will be available for new infrastructure to help improve their quality of life, a new center with many services available.
