The full City Council approves municipal budgets for 2009 (29/03/2009)

The budget includes a series of innovative measures to control public spending.

The full City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has approved the municipal budget for 2009.

"It is the responsibility of the government team and infrastructure to expand services in our municipality, we must keep growing, advancing and offering every day, more and better public services to improve the quality of life of lumbrerenses.

Therefore, investments cover almost half the budget, exceeding 40% of it, "said the Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

Puerto Lumbreras is now a town dynamic, entrepreneurial, with many opportunities, which is expressed in these budgets that the government team has presented.

Budgets that due to the crisis our country now living have been developed to the maximum extent to the austerity and applying a series of measures already approved by the plenary of the City Council.

These measures include the utmost restraint in public expenditure, especially current expenditures, and without neglecting those devoted to social policy.

On the other hand, staff costs are optimized resources offered by this City, both human and material.

According to the mayor, "the government team presented these budgets in order to keep growing, getting to Puerto Lumbreras grow in social welfare, employment and industry, culture and education, we continue to grow by becoming a city of the XXI century, sustainable and committed to the environment, investing in new avenues of economic development and offering lumbrereses improvements in their quality of daily life "

Proof of this is that over 9 million in investments, culminating works already advanced, and will begin new public health infrastructure and equipment, social, cultural or sports certainly contribute to better equip the town to provide space quality public services.

Among the main investments will be undertaken this year are the new Day Centre for Handicapped, the Assumption College sports pavilion Jordan Care Center Esparragal Police or Security and Emergency Center.

On the other hand, continue the restoration work at Castle Nogalte and build the new School for Folklore and dances, plus a Young Art Center, where young artists will have a new space for their creations.

These budgets also included the completion of works as advanced as the expansion of the new City Hall, the new school "Sacred Heart", or the two new nurseries in the street Calle San Javier and Pablo Casals.
