The director of the Institute for Women in the Region of Murcia, Teresa Moreno, along with the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, today introduced the Daphne-Spire project against domestic violence in rural areas, which will City Hall lumbrerense participate along with other European Union countries such as Sweden, Greece and United Kingdom.
The Spire, Daphne III is designed by the EU to eradicate gender violence in rural areas and promoting policies of equality.
Puerto Lumbreras is the only Spanish municipality participating in a program that serves to hold lines of action in prevention against abuse in other municipalities in the region.
According to Moreno, the Institute for Women "will participate in the implementation of the European project in Puerto Lumbreras mainly as an observer and will build on the work done to redirect the actions in the fight against gender violence in rural areas."
The European agenda Daphne, Spire will develop in three distinct phases, which will be carried out awareness campaigns aimed at rural populations.
Just the first part of the program aims to identify the perception and consideration of citizens on this type of violence.
Subsequently, it is expected that experts from the European Union discuss the findings of the research and develop materials for the campaign in rural areas.
Finally, develop an informative and educational interventions in rural areas which will benefit 220 local organizations and 880 individual beneficiaries in the four countries participating in the project.
The program will use new technologies and social networks to promote the activities and individual learning.
Also, the four partner countries remain connected to promote joint work and create social networks for sharing knowledge.
