The monitoring committee of the Tourism Promotion Plan agreed investments of close to 2 million euros for tourism development in 2009 (21/04/2009)

After the meeting was held at City Hall the Local Security Board which reported on the development of an ordinance to protect public safety

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez has headed along to the Government's meeting of the committee to monitor the Tourism Promotion Plan of Puerto Lumbreras in which also attended by Director General of Tourism Infrastructure, Marina García Vidal, Councillor for Tourism of Puerto Lumbreras, Ginés David Piñero and the president of Hostemur, Soledad Diaz, among others.

"Tourism is a key area for development of Puerto Lumbreras, an economic growth opportunity and a tool to generate employment.

This is why the City Council that we are firmly committed investment in tourism through the Tourism Promotion Plan Nogalte Medina "with these words qualified the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras the meeting with members of the monitoring committee Revitalization Plan Desk.

Currently, tourism provides an important opportunity for employment, and the Region of Murcia is becoming recognized as an important benchmark in the industry. "

The plan includes the themes of the cave houses through the definition of seven themed areas including include Artisan House Workshop, the cave of the ways of water or caves audiovisual and didactic.

The recovery of the 146 cave houses for different adaptation includes catering equipment, restaurant, and the construction of a Traditional Craft Centre, shops and accommodation.

It is also planned the construction of a open-air auditorium, cultural facilities and new means of transport to facilitate access to different areas of the municipality.

Also included are actions for the development of space tourism and to improve communication, signage, training, quality, promotion and marketing that will affect the whole municipality.

"With all these actions Puerto Lumbreras want to become a tourist town that is not only a place of passage, but one more stop in which citizens have a wide range of culture and tourism, as tourism is a sustainable form of exploitation of natural resources, while municipal growth potential. "

Local Board Meeting Security

Following the meeting of the committee to monitor the Tourism Promotion Plan, both the mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, as the delegate of the Government, Rafael González Tovar, participated in the meeting of the Local Security Board Puerto Lumbreras.

On this occasion, both have met with the Councillor for Citizen Security, Sergeant and Captain of the Guard Captain of the Guardia Civil and Local Police Sergeant of Puerto Lumbreras in order to establish the ways and means of collaboration with the Security Forces at the municipal level.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, stressed that "it is very important to assess and analyze the security of citizens in the municipality.
