Jarilla visit libraries in Puerto Lumbreras (23/04/2009)

The City has developed numerous initiatives to celebrate World Book Day with the slogan 'Get lost among the books'

The mascot for the library has visited all schools to display the new services of the Municipal Library and the desire to encourage reading in youngsters.

The conference has also had school competitions and Medieval Storytelling

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has organized numerous activities to promote reading to mark the World Book Day.

To celebrate this day, the town has had a Medieval Storytelling at the Library of Esparragal where both children and adults have enjoyed historical narratives based in the Middle Ages.

In addition, the municipality has received the reading workshop 'Feelings' at the Institute of Nogalte Rambla', which consisted of the reading of poems and a discussion of the meaning and the feelings they produce in the reader.

The day ended with the appointment of the best readers in 2008, and the representation of children's theater 'Fontaine Factory, "based on the fables of Jean de la Fontaine: The Cicada and the Ant.

"Like every year, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras we dump in the organization of activities that promote reading among citizens.

We wanted to serve all groups and therefore we have implemented for all activities, with particular emphasis on smaller, on the disabled and elderly, "said the Councillor for Education, Isabel García.

Throughout the week activities are being developed as the workshop 'Reading activities for people with disabilities' that encourages reading habit among people with disabilities.

Moreover, since the town was organized 'meeting point for readers', where fans gather to read a literary talk for the exchange of opinions and reflections.

Puerto Lumbreras continue to celebrate Book Week until 28 April.

Lumbrerense poet and president of the Association of Performing Arts Flares, Carmen Martinez, will present their booklets 'The colors of my people "and" Puerto Lumbreras: Crucible of Cultures' on Friday 24 April.

In addition, an author lumbrerense, M ª Concepción Pérez Carrión will present the poetry book 'Seeds'.

The semi-final of the Book Week will put a training workshop aimed at women's associations of Puerto Lumbreras and the Esparragal.

The workshop includes sessions in libraries in which they talk about reading as a habit and explained the services and benefits offered by municipal libraries.

In addition, throughout the week, the bookmobile is touring the county strategic points in order to inform lumbrerenses about new products, services, hours and access to the new Municipal Library.
