Puerto Lumbreras recover the traditional water infrastructure Water Route (28/04/2009)

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, have signed a collaboration agreement to restore the local heritage related to utilization of water resources in Puerto Lumbreras

Through this agreement, both institutions will collaborate for the future creation of a museum that will serve as the Visitor Center Water Roads in Puerto Lumbreras

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has signed a collaboration agreement with the Segura basin in order to study the recovery of traditional water infrastructure Water Road in the township.

Through this agreement signed by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, will conduct a study to allow recovery of water infrastructure as part of Route Water in Puerto Lumbreras including many heritage resources.

"Since the City Council have requested the collaboration of the Segura River Basin to study the recovery of traditional hydraulic infrastructures that form the Water Route Puerto Lumbreras.

It is important that the municipalities of the Region of Murcia involve us in the recovery and maintenance of such water infrastructure to enable new generations to know how to manage water resources in ancient times, "said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez .

The 'La Ruta del Agua' includes recovery of the assets that make up the natural water courses, improving their environment and the adequacy of different routes to be enjoyed both by locals as by visitors to the municipality.

According to a study by the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia in cooperation with the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, Route Water has more than 50 assets of interest consisting of canals, mills, ponds, fountains , wells, caves and waterholes, as well as agricultural terraces irrigated by flooding.

"With the recovery of hydraulic property in the municipality, will launch a Visitor Center Water Roads in Puerto Lumbreras.

Through the signing of the agreement between the City and the Segura basin, both institutions have agreed to close cooperation for the implementation of the Visitor Center Water Roads in Puerto Lumbreras.

The CHS assign materials to the municipality to be exposed in the future museum that will include historical and cultural heritage management of water in Puerto Lumbreras.
