Puerto Lumbreras houses the National Cycling Championship Adapted (17/05/2009)

The town has gathered more than a hundred athletes who have made individual time trials and road races in the categories for participants who have physical disabilities, cerebral palsy or visual impairment.

The town of Puerto Lumbreras has received over the weekend Championship Adapted Cycling Spain in which more than a hundred athletes from all over the country, including medalists have highlighted Beijing Paralympic Games and Adapted Cycling World Championships.

"The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is committed to sport and solidarity.

This championship was the perfect combination of effort, equal opportunities and improvement.

Puerto Lumbreras has offered sports for all in a pure state, "said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

The Real Spain Cycling Federation has taken the promotion of these sporting events, which have gone on to become more competition within the national cycling.

Thus, this championship is a first step in the professionalization of the sport of cycling competition adapted to the time it takes a step in the standardization and regulation of all aspects of the sport

The championship, organized by the Cycling Club Ginés García, in collaboration with the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, has had individual time sporting events at different circuits, while during the closing day of today have taken the road test route.

The tests are divided into modes depending on the type of deficiencies and have made two trips, the first one with a distance of 17 kilometers, and the second with 8 kilometers.

Among the winners, road racing, Joaquín López has won gold in the men's tandem, while Lopez and Ana Beatriz Escribano have achieved the highest distinction in the female category.

The tournament has also had evidence of physical disability in four categories according to disability (LC1, LC2, LC3, LC4), which have achieved gold medals José Diego Cobacho - rider from Murcia - Amador Granado, and Juan Antonio García José Méndez.

The road tests also included the category of cerebral palsy in which have been leaders, among others, Aitor Oroza, Ricardo Moreno, Javier Ochoa and Rafael medalist Garcon.

In addition, the championship mode has been included HandCycling or hand cycle, which have been declared winners Luis Miguel Giner, José Manuel Centeno and José Vicente Arzo.

On the other hand, in the individual time trial championship categories have been winners of different categories riders like Luis Miguel Giner, José M.

Centeno, Aitor Oroza, Raquel Acinas or Jose Aramburu.

Among the participants in this Championship Adapted Cycling Spain have highlighted the national and world medals as Vicente Arzo, Juan Méndez, Javier Ochoa and Roberto Mayor.
