The City Council will promote equality of opportunity and treatment for women victims of gender violence (27/05/2009)

Through this collaboration agreement with the Institute for Women, the City will launch a Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) and develop services and programs on gender equality

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Immigration through which will enhance service delivery in terms of equal opportunities and attention to women victims of violence gender.

The municipality, in collaboration with the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, will operate a Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Violence.

"For the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is essential to develop services and programs for equal opportunities.

Through this agreement, our council of Equal Opportunity will work for the implementation of a program of activities that promote respect and equality, and allows for better inclusion of women at work, "said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.

With a budget of 84,774 euros, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, develop services and programs on gender equality, care for women victims of domestic violence and put in place structures promote and facilitate access of women to the labor market.

In this sense, the mayor added that "the session will operate immediately Specialty Care Center for Women Victims of Violence through which to provide counseling and legal aid to women in need."

The new equipment will be qualified as a psychologist, social worker and an attorney, all completely free provide advice for women who suffer this type of problem.

Specialty Care Center for Women Victims of Violence will focus on affected women overcome the negative effects of abuse through the promotion of social skills and the pursuit of psychological balance.

In addition, the agreement will help implement programs to promote equal opportunities and promote inclusive policies work through the Local Employment Center which offers a job information, vocational guidance preformation and to improve the employability of women and their social inclusion.
