The City Council will launch an Ordinance to increase the Public Safety (04/06/2009)

The ordinance will specify those actions that are not considered criminal offenses but are detrimental to social welfare and coexistence

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras in the last plenary session approved the implementation of an ordinance that seeks to punish negative behavior to increase safety in the municipality.

The Councillor for Citizen Security, Dolores Arenas, along with local police sergeant, Andrew Lledó, presented the new ordinance that will ensure public order and help develop an optimal service to local security forces.

"What we want with this ordinance is to punish all actions that are detrimental to social order but are not considered criminal offenses, thus promoting the welfare and improvement of living together in the municipality," said the Councillor for Citizen Security, Dolores Arenas.

Municipal regulations, adopted in plenary on 25 May and will start immediately, will also serve to define and detail the conduct contrary to public safety and public order within the framework of national and regional legislation .

The ordinance also details the penalties that flow from this type of behavior, and will place special emphasis on the protection of young people.

In this sense, the councilor and municipal government spokeswoman, Dolores Sands, said: "This new legislation will also serve to define and detail all the actions and behaviors that may harm contrary to the public.

Among the violations that regulate, highlights the admission of minors in public or premises on which expressly prohibited the sale of alcohol to underage youth, or alteration of collective security through disturbances in the pathways, spaces or public.

In addition, the Public Security Ordinance provides for the punishment of other offenses such as drug use in places, roads, facilities and public transport, opening and holding facilities or entertainment shows lack of authorization, and the excess limits authorized for opening times.
