More than twenty students participate in educational programs through the Workshop on Employment of Puerto Lumbreras (15/07/2009)

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Employment and Development, has launched a year Employment Workshop for the practical and theoretical training of over 25 years of labor market problems.

During the first 7 months, 22 students of the employment workshop proceedings have developed various practices related to the provision of public utilities.

Students also participate in specific support plans and adaptation in the classroom to be launched in Employment Workshop 2009 through a grant from the European Social Fund and the Autonomous Community of Murcia.

"The members of the Workshop on Employment acquire vocational and job training through the implementation of works and services of public utility and social interest related to new sources of employment for a year," said Councilman Business, Employment and Development, David Ginés Piñero.

In addition, Piñero added that "the employment workshop favors the subsequent employability of students through practical and theoretical training, and apprenticeship related to a specific area."

During the month of December started the training program and labor that will run in the municipality until the end of this year and focuses on areas such as masonry, home help and street cleaning.

On the issue of home help, the members of the Workshop on Employment practices have developed Alzheimer Center of Puerto Lumbreras, working with Social Services in the distribution of food to the poorest families, and make the accompaniments to serve home help from social services.

For its part, the members of the Workshop on street cleaning continue cleaning the old part of town which includes the maintenance of Nogalte Castle area and the slopes.

Have also been painted various parts of the city proper, and perform activities related to the adequacy and cleanliness of public gardens in the locality.

As the workshop Banks have been made for rainwater collection gutters, ditches and manholes at the Youth Hostel, adequacy of municipal swimming pools, and the improvement of curbs and slabs in the street.

In this sense, we have also developed activities in the incubator, as the placement of planters, the shuttering of sidewalks or installation of electrical supply.

"Through the employment workshop, students are trained in core subjects such as environmental awareness, information and prevention of occupational risks, and learn skills related to masonry, street cleaning and home care.

In addition, this year we have implemented support workshops on language, mathematics and language to enhance training, "says the councilor of Business, Employment and Development, David Ginés Piñero.
