Through this project, including for European Programmes in the Mediterranean region, the municipality seeks to promote application of innovative technologies in enterprises
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through European programs in the Mediterranean Basin, has requested to participate in the innovative project that seeks to promote cooperation in various fields such as innovation, development and research.
The project emerges from the common interest of all partners to strengthen and improve innovation capabilities as a prerequisite for progress towards sustainable development.
"Through this project, the municipality lumbrerense aims to develop the potential of innovation and research collaboration with European partners of the Mediterranean.
This will facilitate knowledge transfer and innovation in small and medium enterprises through joint studies and research on technological innovation, "said the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
The Mediterranean program was established as multilateral cooperation program that comes with the new European Neighbourhood Policy which aims to help create a ring of stability, security and prosperity around the enlarged European Union.
This new policy seeks to strengthen ties between countries through various collaborative programs.
Innova project objectives are to improve productivity and competitiveness of SME's in rural areas, identify innovation models in the different entities involved, and learn about innovative case studies conducted in the participating regions, making them useful for other partners.
Moreover, as the mayor added Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, "the application of innovative technologies and companies is urgently needed.
Therefore, through this European project examining the development of innovation and technical progress in the municipality, and establish a provisional figure of innovation agency to facilitate and promote relations between companies, public entities and the market ".
