The Segura basin (CHS) has completed the works of rainwater collection in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras, after undertaking a three-mile drive west of town, which binds to another in the east.
As an example of its utility, the first day of operation there were rainfall and managed to collect 5,000 cubic meters are now available for irrigation.
The work, which had a budget of 400,000 euros, is driving 500 mm in diameter, having a total length of 3,002 meters, which are divided into a main branch of 2,877 meters and a secondary branch of 125 meters.
The main branch path runs parallel to the regional road D-19 and goes through various cooperative land, facilitating the arrival of driving to the dam of the irrigation use.
It also crosses a watercourse which may be used if necessary for maintenance of the raft and as an overflow to prevent flooding.
