The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras and Minister of Presidency placed the first stone of the new Police Service Center (03/12/2009)

The Mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, have placed this morning the first stone of the new Police Service Center of the municipality that is located in the hamlet of El Esparragal-Station .

The ceremony was also attended by the director general of Local Government, Institutional and External Relations, Juan Antonio Morales and several members of the government team and local police officers in the municipality.

The new units will be located in a municipally owned parcel located in the urban core of the hamlet, on the Carretera de El Esparragal, near the intersection of Valencia Road.

The building of the new Police Service Center will cover an area of 920 square meters, one high and one intermediate court.

Increases in staff and new infrastructure

With the recent addition of three new local police officers, the town now has a staff of 24 officers, nine of which are attached to the Public Safety Unit of the Regional Plan.

It is also expected before the end of the year, adding a new local police to complete the body of Public Safety Brigades.

On the other hand, Puerto Lumbreras continues to increase the transport of the local police, who already has four motorcycles and six cars, two SUV, a unit of Public Safety, and a crowded van that has been built recently.

In this regard, the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, recalled that "the Regional Public Safety Plan, now completed, involved an overall investment of 300 million euros with the addition of 628 new agents to the bodies of local police of the various municipalities in the region to which they have been equipped with better technical and material means. "

Regarding infrastructure, the municipality will soon have a new Center for Integrated Security and Emergency units that bring together local police, Civil Protection, the Emergency Coordination Center City and a computer terminal associated with the single emergency telephone number 112.

The new center, with a total investment of more than 2,747,000 euros, will be located next to the Parador hotel and is being built on a plot of over 5,800 meters.
