Puerto Lumbreras closing the employment workshop led by the Centre for Local Development (15/12/2009)

Students have been working practices associated with various workshops for street cleaning, masonry and home help.

The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has closed the 2009 Employment Workshop which was attended by 22 students lumbrerenses.

Councillor for Social Policy and Employment, M ª Angeles Tunisia, and the council's Enterprise and Industry, Ginés David Piñero, presided over the closing-employment Training Programme which aims to promote the employability of various groups in the municipality.

According to the Councillor for Social Policy and Employment, M ª Angeles Tunisia, "Employment Workshop is based on practical and theoretical training for people over 25 years with labor market problems.

Throughout the year, 22 students have performed maintenance and cleanliness of public infrastructure of the municipality, and have supplemented their education with support workshops in subjects like math, language and languages. "

Employment Workshop's main objective is theoretical and practical training of students over 25 years, in order to supplement their theoretical training with practical work for a year, through a grant from the European Social Fund the Autonomous Community of Murcia.

Through the Local Development Centre, students have been trained in core subjects such as environmental awareness, information, prevention of occupational hazards, first aid or job search techniques, among other subjects.

The 22 students, mostly women, started the program last December 15th, 2008, and throughout the year have made several practical work.

Among the main tasks, notes the cleaning of various areas of the municipality as the old, downtown, environment Nogalte Castillo, or the maintenance of public parks in the municipality.

On the other hand, the workshop conducted various Banks as works at the Center for Local Development, adequacy of access to sports facilities as well as work in the business incubator of the municipality.

Finally, members of the workshop have provided home help services support at home through Social Services have completed an internship at the Alzheimer's Association VILLAGE, and have worked with Social Services and Caritas in the food distribution families.

In conclusion, the Councillor for Employment and Social Policy, M ª Angeles Tunisia, stressed that "this new edition of the Workshop on Employment has produced excellent results with students involved in teaching theory and in practice.

This program will facilitate their entry into the workforce in pots in which they have specialized throughout the year. "
