Among the works are carried out actions aimed at reducing water consumption, which will allow savings of up to 40 percent

The managing director of the Housing and Land Institute (IVS), Jane Brown, accompanied by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, today visited the houses of public promotion that will be rehabilitated by the Autonomous Community, a performance included in the Plan ' Two repair ', which carried out the refurbishment of 93 buildings of the regional public park in this county.

The Plan 'Repair' Two ', promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, with an investment of 1,960,000 euros for the rehabilitation of 609 houses in the municipalities of Abanilla, Sewer, Alhama de Murcia, Blanca, Calasparra , Cartagena, Ceuta, Lorca Puerto Lumbreras and Villanueva del Rio Segura.

Castaño said that "the main objective of these actions is to improve the living conditions of the buildings to ensure that families living in these buildings the right to enjoy decent housing and improve their quality of life."

The homes to be rehabilitated are located in the streets Enrique Granados, Picomar, Lobo and Eras.

As a novelty compared to last year, carried out preparation work to reduce water consumption in homes.

In this measure will also take place in those homes occupied by people over 65, disabled and / or dependents, the replacement of bathtubs for a shower in those parts damaged or leaking problems.

"The contribution of each dwelling in water consumption will save up to 40 percent, which will benefit the family economy and to society at Murcia, through the rational use of water, and avoid unnecessary costs of a scarce resource in the Region "said the managing director.

Finally, Brown said that "these measures increase energy efficiency and save resources and create new jobs, measures that contribute to the revitalization of economic activity and increasing the quality of life for all Murcia" .
